OpenFunScripter Review
Introduction
OpenFunScripter (OFS) is a free, open-source desktop editor for creating/refining funscripts with video playback, waveform view, keyframing, extensions (e.g., motion tracking), and cross-platform support.
My Experience
OpenFunScripter remains a solid community favorite in 2026 for detailed funscript creation. I've used it for hundreds of scripts—loading videos (mpv integration), waveform scrubbing, precise keyframing with mouse/keyboard/hotkeys. Extensions like motion tracking (mtfg-rs) automate static scenes, speeding workflow dramatically.
Interface is clean (ImGui-based), customizable, with chapter support, websocket API for live testing (sync to MultiFunPlayer/Intiface). Cross-platform (Windows/Linux/macOS builds), fully open-source—no paywalls. I've scripted complex multi-axis (stroke + twist) with ease, exporting clean .funscript files.
Cons: Steeper curve than vFAPS, occasional crashes on large files (fixed in updates), no built-in VR capture. Still excellent for precision editing—pairs perfectly with playback tools.
Pros
- Powerful keyframing/waveform tools
- Extensions (motion tracking)
- Free/open-source/cross-platform
- Live testing API
Cons
- Learning curve
- No native VR authoring
The Verdict
Reliable open-source editor for precise funscript creation—great for community creators.
