Introduction

JoyFunScripter is an older, free funscript editor with video playback, keyframe scripting via keyboard/gamepad, live testing with devices, and basic clip export features.

My Experience

JoyFunScripter was one of the early dedicated funscript editors I used back around 2020–2022, before tools like vFAPS and modern OFS integrations took over. I scripted several dozen videos with it, mostly for Handy/Launch devices, using its keyboard shortcuts and gamepad support for manual keyframing. The interface loads videos (with LAV Filters for codec support), shows a waveform, and lets you mark actions with hotkeys—simple but functional for basic scripts.

Live testing mode synced well with ScriptPlayer/Intiface for real-time feedback, which helped refine timing quickly. Gamepad mapping (e.g., left stick for position) made handheld scripting feel natural during short scenes. I exported clips with matching funscripts, useful for sharing snippets. It handled static-camera porn decently, and the free personal-use model was nice.

However, it showed its age quickly. Crashes were common (especially with large videos), no autosave, limited waveform zoom/precision, no multi-monitor or advanced plugins, and no VR/motion-capture support. Community feedback echoed this—many switched to OpenFunScripter or Python-based tools for stability. Updates stopped years ago, so compatibility with newer OS/video formats can require workarounds (e.g., installing specific filters). For complex or high-volume scripting, it's frustrating compared to vFAPS's 6-axis VR capture or even basic OFS.

I still keep it installed for nostalgia or ultra-simple projects, but I haven't used it seriously in years. It's a relic of early funscripting—functional for beginners in its time but outclassed now.

Key Features

Video loading
waveform view
hotkey/gamepad scripting
live sync testing
basic clip export.

Pros

  • Simple keyboard/gamepad keyframing
  • Live device testing integration
  • Clip export with script matching
  • Free for personal use

Cons

  • Frequent crashes and no autosave
  • No modern features (VR, plugins, multi-axis)
  • Outdated, no active development
  • Requires codec workarounds

How It Compares

Vs. vFAPS: Vastly inferior—no VR capture, marketplace, or advanced editing. Vs. MultiFunPlayer: Pure editor vs. player; JoyFunScripter feels primitive today.

The Verdict

A basic starter editor from the early days—try modern alternatives like vFAPS for serious scripting work.
